Italian Chocolate Pepper Cookies

Dry ingredients

5 cups flour

1 cup cocoa

2 tablespoons baking powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon salt

 

Wet Ingredients

2 cups sugar

1 cup butter

2 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 ½ cups milk

 

Optional (Select 2)

1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped

1 cup raisins, chopped

1 cup chocolate chips

To Make Cookies

Mix all dry ingredients

Cream butter and sugar.       Beat eggs and add vanilla and milk.   Mix all wet ingredients together.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheets

Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix well

Stir in optional ingredients

Take about two cups of dough and roll out in a log using flour. Cut in 2 inch pieces and place on cookie sheet. May roll pieces.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-13 minutes.

Icing:

2 cups confectioner’s sugar

1 to 2 tablespoons milk

2 teaspoon butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

For icing: Mix together all ingredients, adding milk until achieving creamy consistency, not stiff.

When cookies are slightly cooled, top with icing.
